The Black and Tan challenge!
Ok, so Flickr’s email upload thing is broken right now and my beers from this week aren’t coming through. So I think I’d take the opportunity to talk up something else: Black and Tans.
Drew posted on Hoppin’ Frog’s B&T last week and it got me thinking about how awesome black and tans are. Well I started up a discussion on Twitter about good black and tan recipes - and everyone insisted that it must be Guinness and either Harp or Bass. Seeing as how I only drink American beers… I think this is total BS.
So I’ve decided to challenge myself (and I’m hoping you’ll all join me) in making a great American Black and Tan. Following the Wiki entry, we learn that there are many, many recipes - but nearly all use Guinness or some undefined stout and some sort of Ale.
I plan on spending the next few months dedicated to this conundrum - and you’ll be able to read about my exploits here. Join me in this mission and we can prove that American Micros can make a great B&T.
Good luck!
